About Us
In Mulieribus
(the Latin phrase meaning “amongst women”) is a female
vocal ensemble dedicated to the promotion and enrichment of community
through the art of music with a focus on works written primarily
before 1750.
It accomplishes
this mission through live, historically informed, professional performances;
through sound recording projects; and through relationships and
donations made to local not-for-profit organizations that support
women in need.
About
the Artists

Anna
Song, Artistic Director and Conductor, began
her position as Assistant Conductor of the Portland Symphonic
Chorus in January of 2005. She has been directing choirs and
teaching music in the Portland area since moving to Oregon
in 2001. After graduating with a B.A.in composition from UCLA,

Tuesday
Rupp, Executive Director and alto, is the
co-founder of In Mulieribus and a Portland native. Praised
for her “rich, rapturous tone” by the Oregonian,
Tuesday has a broad portfolio of performances. Recent solo
work includes Bach’s Christmas Oratorio with Eric Milnes |
finish her M.M. in conducting
from the School of Music and the Institute of Sacred Music
at Yale University. She has studied with Dennis Keene at
the Keenefest Choral Institute and has appeared at the Oregon
Bach Festival as a conducting fellow with Helmuth Rilling.
Her past teaching positions include Associate Director of
the Choral Program at DePaul University in Chicago. She
is co-founder and artistic director of In Mulieribus, a
professional early women’s ensemble and is conductor
of the St. Rose Children’s Choir in NE Portland. This
fall, she will serve on the faculty at Linfield College
and begin teaching at Holy Redeemer School in North Portland.

Kari
Ferguson, soprano, grew up in the
rural outskirts of Canby, Oregon. She com-pleted a
Bachelor of Arts in Music at Goshen College, Indiana,
and was a two-time winner of the Concerto-Aria Contest.
Her love of early music led her to study at Longy
School of Music in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She then

returned
to Portland area and is now married and enjoying the
musical life of Portland. She is currently singing
with the Trinity Episcopal Choir and Cathedral Chamber
Singers. Ms. Ferguson has also performed with local
ensembles such as Urban Baroque, Cantores in Ecclesia
and the Oregon Renaissance Band. |

Shaelyn
Schneider, mezzo-soprano, is active
in the Portland area as a soloist, choral singer,
conductor, and educator. She is a member of Trinity
Consort, Cantores in Ecclesia, Oregon Renaissance,
and a founding member of the the chamber ensemble
Urban Baroque. In Chicago, she performed |
with
the Newberry Consort under Mary Springfels, the Scholars
of Cambrai, the Janus Ensemble, Seraphim, Schola Cantorum
of St. Peter-in-the-Loop, the Holy Name Cathedral
chamber singers, the Rodfei Zedek temple choir, and
the Cathedral Singers under Richard Proulx. Oratorio
solo appearances include the Gilles Requiem, Bach
Magnificat, Handel Messiah, Pergolesi Stabat Mater,
and Haydn's Lord Nelson Mass. Operatically she has
performed with NOVA and Da Cornetto Opera company
in Chicago and with the Bel Canto Institute at Portland
State University. She currently serves as the music
director of Christ the Vine Lutheran Church, vocal
coach for the Lake Bible Church Women's Choir, and
director of the St. John the Baptist's Children's
Choir. She holds degrees from Michigan State University
and the University of Kentucky and has performed at
the Amherst, Longy, San Francisco, and Vancouver Baroque
music institutes. |

Ann
Wetherell, soprano, is a native
of Iowa, and has been singing for as long as she can
remember. She is a long-time member of Cantores in
Ecclesia, the choir of St. Michael and All Angels
Church, and the PBO chorus. In September 2006, Ann
sang in Prague, Czech Republic, with the St. Ann Chapel |
choir
from Palo Alto, Ca. Ann earned her Ph.D. in Chinese
art history at the University of Oregon. Formerly
assistant professor of art history at Pacific University,
Ann will begin teaching at Portland State University
in January 2008. |

and the Trinity Consort,
the world premier of Robert Kyr’s A Time for Life
with Cappella Romana, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater
at First Unitarian Church. She is the 2006 Cascade NATS
winner in the Adult II division. Tuesday sings with Cappella
Romana, Trinity Cathedral Chamber Choir, and Cantores in
Ecclessia. She records frequently with Oregon Catholic Press,
and is the Music Director at Milwaukie Presbyterian Church.
Tuesday holds a B.Mus. from Boston Univeristy and is pursuing
a master’s degree in conducting from Portland State
University.

Heather
Roszczyk, mezzo-soprano, began her
musical studies at Youngstown State University with
Dr. Wade Raridon where she had the opportunity to
tour Italy and Austria as a soloist and member of
the Dana Chorale. She went on to earn her Bachelor
of Music from Indiana |
University
in Bloomington while studying with Dr. James McDonald.
While in Bloomington, Heather participated in numerous
performances with the IU Opera Theater, University
Singers, and the Early Music Institute. She was the
recipient of the Indiana University Dean’s Award
scholarship, winner of the Dana Young Artist Competition,
and has appeared in many stage productions. Her favorite
roles include Paquette in Candide, Lily Garland in
On the 20th Century, and Bernadette in Raised in Captivity.
An avid traveler, Heather bicycled across Ireland
and coast-to-coast across the US before moving to
Portland in 2003. She now works for Nike in footwear
product marketing and divides her spare time between
voice, fiddle, hiking, and bicycling. |

Catherine
van der Salm, soprano, is a native
of the Northwest. She grew up in Sandy, Oregon, and
graduated with honors from Willamette University in
Salem, Oregon, earning two degrees: Bachelor of Science
in Business Economics and Bachelor of Music in Vocal
Performance. |
She continues to study with Carole Stewart. As a private
voice teacher in Vancouver, Washington, Catherine
coaches singers of all ages in art song, opera, Broadway,
and popular musical styles. In addition to teaching,
Catherine is also active as a performer, having performed
solo recitals for the Yachats Cultural Series in Yachats,
Oregon, The Forest Grove Concert Series, the Community
Music Center and the Old Church in Portland. She has
appeared both in productions with the Portland Opera
and the Portland Musical Theatre Company, and as a
guest artist with Bravo! Vancouver, and the Vancouver
Camerata. In 2002 and 2004, she was a regional finalist
in the NATSAA competition. She is a member of the
David York Ensemble, a select chamber choir of accomplished
musicians whose mission is to present inspired performances
of choral masterpieces and new works that resonate
in mind, body, and soul. Catherine is also part of
the Portland Alumni Chapter of Mu Phi Epsilon, a professional
music fraternity and service organization. |
